Clare Demerse manages policy engagement on federal and national issues for Clean Energy
Canada, an initiative focused on advancing Canada’s transition to a clean energy system.
Based in Ottawa, Clare’s work concentrates on renewable energy like wind and solar as well
as sustainable transportation, particularly the accelerated deployment of electric vehicles.
Before joining Clean Energy Canada, Clare worked on federal climate policy with the
Pembina Institute, was a Gordon Foundation Global Fellow and is a current fellow of the
Broadbent Institute. Clare is the author of policy analysis on the climate impacts of pipeline
proposals, carbon pricing, and international climate negotiations. Clare is a frequent blogger
and commentator on Canadian climate policy. She holds a master’s degree in journalism
