Mayor Pam O’Connor was first elected to Santa Monica City Council in 1994, and is currently in her fourth term as Mayor. Throughout nearly two decades of continuous service, Mayor O’Connor has championed policies and partnerships that enhance community livability. She is particularly interested in issues that advance mobility, transportation and sustainability. She has served on the Los Angeles County Metro Board since 2001, steering the planning, coordination, design, construction, and operation of the transportation / transit system for the nation’s most populous county. She is Vice-Chair of the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority Board that oversees construction of the light rail line that extends from Downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica. She has also served as president of the Southern California Association of Governments, served on the California Coastal Commission as an alternate, and works with cities throughout the world on environmental, sustainability and climate issues as a member of ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability. She holds Masters degrees in Planning and in Technology Management from Eastern Michigan University and a B.S. in Communications from Southern Illinois University.
