Steven K. Dew received his BASc and MASc degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia in 1987 and 1989, respectively. He completed his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1992.
He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta in 1992 and became a full Professor in 1998. Since 1999, he has been Associate Dean (Research & Planning) for the Faculty of Engineering.
Dr. Dew has received the distinctions of Killam Professor (2002), McCalla Research Professor (1998) and has received the Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence from the Canadian Microelectronics Corp. (1994). He is also an ABET IDEAL Scholar (2011). He is a Professional Engineer and Member of APEGGA. His research areas are in micro- and nanofabrication and in thin film technology, in which he has published about 100 journal papers.
